The plant protection product PHOSMET-50 WP has been now authorized on palm trees to fight the red palm weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) and the trunk borer Paysandisia archon, in addition to CHLORPYRIPHOS-48 and PHOSMET-45 SC, previously authorized.

The Ministry of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs has resolved TO AUTHORIZE the plant protection products formulated with PHOSMET-50 WP to fight the PALM TREES pests Rhynchophorus ferrugineus and Paysandisia archon.

It was also a demand of the nursery sector that has finally succeeded thanks to the Catalan Department of Agriculture.

In Girona nurseries frequent periodical treatments, wetting the top of the palm trees extremely well, are made, and a record of the treatments is available for inspection. The Plant Health Service of the Department of Agriculture makes a strict control of palm tree nurseries, inspecting the palm trees one by one at least every three months. If inspections are passed, the nurseries are allowed to issue Plant Passports.
